Referral is not required to see a podiatrist, except for patients, who are eligible for Enhanced Primary Care plan (EPC) which can be obtained from your general practitioner (GP).

Podiatry can be partially covered by Medicare for patients who are eligible for Enhanced Primary Care plan (EPC). EPC plan entitles you to 5 sessions per year. Eligible patients can claim Medicare rebate of $52.95 per session. Ask your GP whether you are eligible for the plan.

Visits to podiatrist may attract a rebate, depending on your health fund and your level of cover. It is best to check with your health cover regarding the amount of rebate.

For patient’s convenience, the rebates can be claimed on the spot through HICAPS terminal.
